My life is a story. Having a somewhat rocky upbringing, you learn to adapt. I’m thankful for those challenges now, because it makes navigating the world a bit less overwhelming.
I've been back reporting in my hometown of Houston for nearly a year. As I enter my 14th year as a professional journalist, this move has been a dream fulfilled.
Prior to making the jump back home, I for the first time got to cover stories on a daily, that resonated deeply with me. I was WISH-TV first multicultural reporter. In my four years there, I defined my role. Breaking into a medium that had been ignored by expanding coverage of minority and marginalized communities. From the beginning the work has been about amplifying voices who've historically been silenced. And there is still a lot of more work to do.
I've been able to expand my skillset through fill-in anchor duties.
I grew up in Houston, Texas. And have close ties to Indianapolis, In. But my news career so far has spanned more than a decade. It's taken me to Indiana, back to Texas, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and now back to Indiana.
